Technical Project Manager

Zehner is an ecommerce-focused digital agency headquartered in Los Angeles, with regional teams in Vancouver and Argentina. We have openings for experienced Technical Project Managers (aka Technology Manager) to join our cross-functional teams producing premium direct-to-consumer ecommerce experiences for nationally renowned brands (such as Outerknown and FIJI Water).

This role is an integral part of our development team responsible for capturing and defining development requirements, owning project and task estimations, and guiding the technical delivery of our projects. You will interact on a daily basis with our internal colleagues across PMO, Design, Tech and QA disciplines, as well as our clients, ensuring the highest quality of our work.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Lead ecommerce and other software development projects from beginning to end as the technical touch point for clients and other internal stakeholders
  • Own initial estimation at a high level, project setup, sprint management, and resource allocation for their projects
  • Manage project development tasks and provide performance metrics to measure development velocity
  • With clients and cross-functional team, validate assumptions, solve problems, and align delivery with project goals from a technical perspective
  • Manage multiple projects at a time
  • Create and maintain technical documentation in collaboration with UX Designers, Solutions Architects, Tech Directors and lead engineers
  • Support accurate, timely development of other project-related documentation
  • Organize and lead planning activities to create the release/program roadmap
  • Evaluate and continually elevate process improvements within development teams
  • Proactively manage across stakeholder groups (both client and internal) to establish interdependencies, identify risks and resource constraints, and eliminate significant roadblocks
  • Exercise smart decision-making and effectively collaborate with other leaders and stakeholders to address key issues and roadblocks aggressively and in a timely fashion
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to identify project risks and develop contingency plans
  • Apply agile processes within the unique constraints of client work
  • Support project teams to resolve delivery blockers


  • At least 2-3 years of software development management experience
  • At least 2-3 years of ecommerce or product development experience
  • Experience with agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience with professional development best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • A team player, able to work with all levels of the organization to establish, document, and evangelize development processes and best practices.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and communication skills
  • Able to manage competing demands while maintaining a keen attention to detail
  • Thrive on the variety and velocity of agency life
